My hands were shaking. I couldn’t hand my notice into my boss.

So I sought out HR to give it to them instead.

I’d finally had enough. I couldn’t keep putting on that suit every morning to go and work in a finance department as a business accountant where I was overworked, wasn’t making a difference, and fitted that awful stereotype.

Because I could see in the businesses that I worked for that there was so much more to their finances than just the numbers if they just brought in someone who could:

• Give relevant reporting and not just DFY routine reports that are discarded within seconds.

So off I went on my merry way to launch myself into the self-employed world – I wanted to create that business filled with empathy, understanding and curiosity. Things were going really well – I was meeting my goals and helping out businesses left right, and centre. But then…

Two blue lines appeared on that white plastic stick. And my life got completely flipped on its head. (Still is actually.)

Fast forward nearly 2 years, my mini-me has taught me even more the value of work-life balance and that there is more to life than just your accounts. That this is worth doing it for.
